The Easter procession of Verges
A sample of the history of the Catalan traditional and popular theatre
The procession of Verges was declared a national interest festival by the government of Catalonia. The origin of this procession is the religious theatre of the Middle Ages, and it has been transmitted from year to year until our days. This is why it is full of elements of all the periods of the Catalan traditional and popular theatre, amongst of which the «Dansa de la Mort» (The Dance of the Death) stands out because of its exclusivity and antiquity.
